Year of Belonging & Bridging

The Committee for Belonging and Bridging hosted by the Museum of Native American History in Bentonville (April 2024).

EngageNWA at the Northwest Arkansas Council is proud to announce a “Year of Belonging and Bridging.” The purpose of EngageNWA is to bring diverse people, organizations and communities together, offering opportunities to connect and contribute to a more inclusive Northwest Arkansas. This next phase marks a significant step forward in the organization’s work to increase a sense of belonging for all residents across the region.

The Year of Belonging and Bridging builds on the tremendous growth of partner engagement and community participation over the past three years of Welcoming Week NWA. Through the Committee for Belonging and Bridging, EngageNWA brought together diverse community leaders to collaboratively support programming and learning throughout the year and to pilot a regional survey to measure belonging.

This work will culminate with the celebration of Welcoming Week NWA in September 2024. Throughout the month, regional organizations, communities and individuals bring together neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places.

“EngageNWA’s past efforts have shown us that true progress is achieved through collaboration,” said EngageNWA Executive Director Margot Lemaster. “Through a community-led approach, we believe that the Year of Belonging and Bridging will spark year-round opportunities for all residents – whether lifelong or recent – to connect, learn and foster a welcoming environment for all.”

“EngageNWA’s extensive network across business, nonprofit sectors and government uniquely positions us to convene this dynamic cohort of leaders and support actions that cultivate a community fostering collaboration, innovation and investment in our collective future,” said Nelson Peacock, president and CEO of the Northwest Arkansas Council.

EngageNWA is supported by Arvest Bank, Signature Bank of Arkansas & Banco Si, Walmart and the Walton Family Foundation.

Sponsorship opportunities are available to support a Year of Belonging & Bridging. Regional planning for Welcoming Week NWA 2024 will begin in May with community-wide information sessions. Contact Margot Lemaster at margot@nwacouncil.org for more information.
